The Importance of Technology in Entrepreneurship: My Experience as CEO of woku

Transform the customer experience with technological knowledge. Discover how the CEO of woku, a CX startup, uses her software expertise to innovate and lead in the market, overcoming unexpected challenges.
When we founded woku, I knew that I was embarking on a journey full of challenges and learning. What I didn't anticipate was how crucial my technological knowledge would be every step of the way. Today I want to share with you why I firmly believe that mastering technology is essential for any entrepreneur in the software world.▍
The Power to Speak the Same Language*
Imagine being in a meeting with your development team and not understanding half of what they say. Frustrating, isn't it? Well, that's the reality of many entrepreneurs who jump into the software world without a solid foundation in technology.
At woku, we've seen how this knowledge makes a difference:
- Realistic promises: Understanding technological limitations and possibilities allows us to make promises that we can fulfill to our customers.
- Fast problem resolution: When a bug occurs, we can clearly communicate it to the technical team without intermediaries.
- Immediate advice: Our clients appreciate that we can guide them on the spot, without the need to consult a third party.
An Unexpected Day Like CTO▲
Earlier this year, I had an experience that further reinforced this belief. We had a crucial meeting scheduled with a Canadian software factory to integrate our technology into the application of one of our clients. Diego, our CTO, would normally lead these types of technical conversations. However, that day he woke up sick. Diego is usually very tight, but some shellfish played tricks on him, making him unable to sit for long.

All of a sudden, I found myself in the need to assume his role. Was she nervous? Of course. But I also felt ready. Why? Because since the beginning of woku, I had been involved in every aspect of our technology.▲
With determination and accumulated knowledge, I guided Canadian developers through the integration process. To my relief (and pride), they found our technology easy and simple to implement.↑
Lessons Learned
This experience left me with several valuable lessons:
- Versatility is key: As a CEO, you must be prepared to take on any role at any given time.
- Knowledge is power: Understanding technology allowed me to effectively communicate with technical professionals, even in another language.
- Trust comes from mastery: My familiarity with our technology gave me the confidence to lead a meeting that normally wouldn't belong to me.
Beyond the CEO role*
Being CEO of a software company goes beyond management and strategy. It involves diving into the heart of what we do: technology. This knowledge not only allows us to make better decisions, but it consolidates the team and brings us closer to our customers.
At woku, we are proud to be an ally with the right technological training to manage the customer experience. We believe that this combination of technical knowledge and customer focus is what sets us apart in the market.
The road continues*
Every day at woku is an opportunity to learn and grow. Whether programming, creating systems or exploring new technologies, we never stop training. Because in the world of software, to stand still is to go back.↑
To all entrepreneurs who are thinking of jumping into the world of software: don't underestimate the power of technological knowledge. Not only will it give them a competitive advantage, but it will also allow them to connect more deeply with their product, their team, and their customers.
And remember, the learning journey never ends. Let's stay curious, let's keep learning, and together, let's keep transforming the software world.
